Intro

What to expect

Join the team: training at FC Zugersee

Fancy some football, team spirit and exercise? Our training sessions are about enjoying the game, moving well and getting to know each other in the team.

Who is welcome?

Everyone is welcome here. Whether you have years of experience on grass and artificial turf or want to start again after a long break, we are glad to see people of any age and any background who love football. Integration and treating each other fairly matter to us.

How your taster session works

Coming along for a trial session is straightforward at any time.

  1. Get in touch: drop us a short message so we can put you with the right team.

  2. Come along: just bring your kit and a good mood.

  3. Join in: train with us with no obligation and get to know the team and the way we play.

  4. Decide: if you enjoyed it, joining us and playing regularly is easy.

Come along and get a taste of our football — we look forward to meeting you.

Philosophy

How we play

How we play: our approach to the game

At FC Zugersee the game in its purest form is what counts. Our philosophy is simple: we play simple football — but with heart. On the pitch we do without complicated tactical instructions and concentrate instead on what makes football what it is: the pleasure of moving, team spirit and a shared experience.

How we set up

We adapt to the number of players who turn up. Depending on the size of the pitch we play in groups of 8 to 11. To keep the game quick, intense and interesting, we generally play to small-sided goals. That format guarantees plenty of touches for everyone and produces a dynamic game with lots of moments to enjoy. Our sessions usually last 90 minutes. We want to make the most of that time, which is why being on time matters to us.

Three of our four pitches in and around Zug are artificial turf. Studded boots (especially with metal studs) are therefore not allowed.

Fairness above all

One thing sets us apart: we play our training matches without a referee. That is no accident but part of who we are. On the pitch we take responsibility ourselves. It only works through:

  • Absolute fairness: we settle contested situations together, and in case of doubt always in favour of getting on with each other.

  • Consideration: protecting and respecting team-mates and opponents comes before scoring.

  • Taking responsibility: every player is their own referee and makes sure the game stays flowing and friendly.

  • "No sliding tackles": we also expressly do without tackles of any kind, to keep the risk of injury down.

  • Offside: we play with the offside rule. As we do without a referee in training, the defenders decide — without discussion.

Community beyond the pitch

What matters to us? That everyone feels safe and welcome on the pitch. We win together and we learn together. For us football is the ideal tool for building bridges and connecting people. Anyone who turns out for us is choosing a strong community in which respect is the most important rule.
